IPO
Apart from my love for the Technical side of creating products, I have always had aspirations to be a designer and not just an engineer. I have always wanted to be able to make industrial drawings by hand and have a better understanding for design. That is why I decided to embark on a new chapter in my life. Going back to school and study Industrial Design. Combine My technical expertise and eye for design.
Project VANMOKUM
For the First Project of the course we were asked to design something outside my comfort zone, something outside the automotive industry.
A designer Lamp for the brand VANMOKUM. Working with an existing brand bring some challenges that were new to me. Finding the design language and finding a balance when it come to my personal touch. In the end I added some of my technical background by making the lamp dimmable with a clever rotary knob.
In the end The lamp came out great, With a strong presence and High end materials, using polished stainless steel and a beautifully finished mahogany wood for the base and legs of the lamp. The combination of the wood, stainless and organic cotton give the lamp a great contrast of colours and a rather environmentally friendly feel.
the colourful Red power cord gives it the last punch it needs to be truly special.
The forgotten greens reintroduction project
The latest project was something completely new to me. Whilst every single product ever requires this to become complete. the packaging is often overlooked but whist being extremely important. the packaging is the thing that often sells the product. a good packaging can sell a bad product, whilst bad packaging can withhold someone from buying a good product. a good thing to learn then.
My Product to package were Chards or “snijbieten” in dutch. These Colourful greens seem to be bought less and less, and it was my mission to try and make them more sellable.
My main objective was to let these colourful greens sell themselves. Find a way to make sure they stay fresh and undamaged and then compliment their inherent fun and inviting appearance. and in the end the feedback I got was: “I would totally buy this if I saw it in the supermarket”
